Sabe was my therapist during high school and for several years after college. One time I had an appointment with him at NYU. But for some reason, he couldn't get into his office. Rather than cancelling, we went to his car, which I believe was a station wagon, and had the session in there. I didn't realize it at the time. But looking back on it, I see it as a sign of his dedication to his patients.

Sabe was my first supervisor. We would sit in his Larchmont office and it was almost a spiritual place. He set the tone for the psychotherapist I aspired to be. Rest in pace, dear Sabert, and thanks.

My deepest sympathy to the family. Our loving Creator invites us to approach Him in prayer, to pour out our hearts to Him. May He grant you peace, strength and comfort during this time of sadness. Psalms 116:15 okw

Thank you all for your tributes. My father was a truly wonderful man; a terrific listener, incredibly patient, smart, loving and with a great sense of adventure. Words can't express the depth of our loss, and how much we will miss him.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Although I never met Dr. Basescu, I know his daughter Maria and can see that he meant the world to her. It is apparent he had a huge impact both professionally and personally, and will be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. My thoughts are with you.

I just heard about Sabe's death and I want his family and friends to know I share their sorrow. Sabe was my therapist from the early 1960s to the late 1970s. I began having problems in junior high and our next door neighbor, Buddy Fisher, recommended Dr. Basescu to my mother. I'll never forget those sessions in his Larchmont office and later on Park Ave and NYU. He meant a great great deal to me.
