SAMUEL HIGGINBOTTOM Obituary

HIGGINBOTTOM--Samuel L.

The President and Trustees of Columbia University express deep sorrow at the passing of Samuel L. Higginbottom, cherished friend, alumnus, and Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees. A 1943 graduate of Columbia's School of Engineering and Applied Science, Samuel was named a University Trustee in 1978 and began a seven-year term as chairman in 1982. His tenure was marked by the same wisdom, generosity, and tireless spirit that made him a distinguished business leader and mentor. Columbia extends its profound sympathy to Samuel's wife, Jana; his children, Samuel L. Higginbottom, Fair Higginbottom, and Rowan Maclaren; his stepchildren Guilherme, Geana, and Bruna Sieburger; and his 23 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
