With great sadness, the Yeshiva University community mourns the loss of our beloved colleague, teacher and friend Sheri Rosenberg, Clinical Professor of Law at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Professor Rosenberg was Director of the Cardozo Law Institute in Holocaust and Human Rights, and Director of the Human Rights and Atrocity Prevention Clinic. A determined advocate and teacher, she inspired students in the use of the law to prevent genocide and mass atrocities. She represented asylum seekers from Haiti and Darfur, and won a landmark case on non-discrimination in the European Court of Human Rights. This spring she was awarded the Spirit of Anne Frank Award, and named a 2015 Peace Ambassador by The Center for Peacebuilding. She is survived by her husband, Gregg Kanter; her three children, Markus, 8, Maurice, 6, and Margaux, 5; her mother, Ann Rosenberg, wife of the late Marcus Rosenberg, and her siblings: Helen Rosenberg (and Shami) Waldman, Steven (and Ruthy) Rosenberg, Lizzy (and Dr. Jules) Greif, and mourned by Randy Pulitzer, husband of the late Margot Rosenberg.
