SIDNEY BOROWITZ Obituary
died January 17 at his home in Manhattan at the age of 98. A lifelong intellectual in every sense of the word he had a long productive 35 year career at NYU, serving in roles including Professor of Physics, Dean of Arts and Sciences and Chancellor, among others, and successfully helping the University navigate the tumultuous times of the 60s and 70s. He will be missed by Ruth, his devoted wife of 74 years, son Michael, daughter Elizabeth, four grandchildren and a great-grandson. A Memorial Service will be held at Crestwood Cremation & Funeral Services, 199 Bleecker, 10:30am Friday, January 20.

My sincere condolences at your loss. I think about Sidney so very fondly; and have so many vivid memories from my childhood including Sedars at my grandparents home at 930 Fifth Avenue, and endless memories from NYU, the Heights.

The God of Abraham has given us a life span of 70 and 80 years if we are strong. Psalms 90:10. May we celebrate a life well lived and loved by all who knew Sidney as we await the fulfillment of Genesis 15: 5,6.
