I will remember Sonja´s many kindnesses. I met her years ago - she was a lovely gracious neighbor. She loved cats and dogs, her volunteer work, and her circle. In more recent times, when I saw her with her Aide in our building lobby I would say hello and hear her delicious melodious accent. To her friends and family, I send my condolences.

I knew Sonia at the Guggenheim and later at the Neue Galerie: Museum of German and Austrian Art. She also did research for me in the Netherlands. Sonia was a very intelligent, a superb researcher and a delightful person. I wish I knew more about her last years.

Sonja and my mother were friends for decades, having first met at a book club, so Sonja has been a part of my life for a very long time, participating in family functions. She was a highly intelligent, well-read, cultured woman who always took a great deal of interest in my foreign travels, and gave me assistance and helpful advice over the years in that regard. I'll never forget one comical afternoon watching her and my mother running around my mother's apartment trying to catch my mother's difficult cat to get her into the carrier to get to the vet's office. She loved cats. After my mother passed 5 plus years ago, I was happy to introduce her to my mother's wonderful caretaker, Catherine, and I enjoyed visiting them both every 4-6 weeks. She was an important person in my life, and I will miss Sonja.
