I had moved from Manhattan, so must have missed any notice of Stanley's passing! So sorry about it & wishing much comfort & condoleance to the entire family, since he is a family treasure of immeasurable wisdom & kindness. Stanley & Selma visited my grandmother & I in 1976, bringing the gift of a book about our family. It was published by himself after 30+ years of research, which in itself is astonishing - how did he do this? It helped us find family we thought were lost after WW II, & understand how & where so many were killed. I later attended many celebrations with them & other family after that, learning about Yardena Arazi's mother & Marcel Marceau's daring rescue of many French Jewish children during the Holocaust. I learned that our family also adopted several Jewish orphans through Va'ad HaAtzalah, during & after the war.
I came to Stanley Batkin's 100th birthday celebration in NYC & have a few pix of that. If I know to whom to send them - when we meet again, soon I hope.

May the family be comforted. We will miss one of the great builders of the Jewish people's future as well as one of the most important collectors of Jewish past... Art and Artifacts. As a fellow collector of Jewish interests I will miss this important memeber of our tribe.

The Camp Onibar-Geneva Alumni and Rabbino clan mourn the loss of the esteemed Stanley Batkin, the very first Onibar camper to attend Camp Onibar. Stanley attended the camp reunion in 2013 where he met fellow campers and shared his Camp Onibar recollections. Stanley's love for Onibar would tell a beautiful story!

I have known that I was in his extended family for more than 35 years Now I have a richer sense of my family history because of his efforts. It was a pleasure finally meeting him in 2006.
It is apt that he is at this moment in the Sanctuary he helped to build.
