To the Brower Family,
I just learned today that Stephan passed away and was deeply saddened. I had the pleasure of meeting him and working with him on property dispute between the State of NJ and my Mother’s beach on LBI. He was a true crusader on her behalf and always made sure that I pass along his regards and other kind words to my Mom. Even from my brief encounters with him, it was clear he was a most kind caring and thoughtful man. We will miss him.

When I was given the great privilege and responsibility for representing the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, as a very young Deputy attorney General in 1976, Steven was already a battle scarred veteran, whose visionary leadership and impressive record of successes for the environment inspired all of us rookies to work harder. Steven was a mentor and friend to us all who walked in his big foot prints at the Attorney General's Office. He will be sorely missed.

We first saw Steve's athletic energy and enthusiasm on the soccer field, when he coached Matt (Nad) back in the mid-70s. Then he created --- I think --- the Pennington Run-for-Fun, where he could deftly juggle more stop watches than anyone can imagine. The last time we shared in Steve's passion for running, when we were going out to dinner with him and Edie in Lambertville. As we left the Browers' wonderful new home after appetizers, he suggested he'd just run over to Martine's and meet us there. He did, and of course he arrived well before those of us who chose cars over feet. We loved Steve -- he was intense, funny, brave, and cheerful --- and we are so sad about losing him.
Hugs to you, Edie, to Pete and to Luke
