STEPHEN SPARER

SPARER--Stephen V. Stephen V. Sparer, age 74, of New York City, passed away on April 4, 2024. Steve is survived by his cherished family, including his wife of 52 years, Cynthia, his son Gregory and daughter-in- law Sarah, granddaughters Sloane and Emma who adored their "Peepa," sister Susan Horowitz, brother-in- law Dan Schaeffer, loving cousins and a circle of longtime friends who truly are family. He was born in New York City to Murray and Leona Sparer and grew up in Oceanside, NY. An alumnus of American University and Case Western Reserve School of Management, Steve spent 25 years in managed care as a marketing executive and enjoyed a second career in physician recruitment. He was known for his incredible sense of humor, always the funniest and most entertaining guy in the room. He was passionate when talking about politics, observations about life and all things sports, especially his beloved Yankees and Knicks. He never missed a day of reading his New York newspapers, and was truly a human Wikipedia, always a wealth of information on any topic. He loved spending his summers at the Jersey Shore, as a 30-year member of Ocean Beach Club in Elberon, NJ, and 35-year annual vacationer to his beloved Ocean City, NJ. He loved Broadway, movies, great restaurants, Sinatra, Billy Joel and classic show tunes, which he could often be heard singing around the house. Above all he loved his family, who is eternally grateful for all of his love, generosity and laughter. Services will be held Sunday, April 7th at 12pm, at Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, located at 91st Street and Amsterdam Ave. in Manhattan.
