I had Professor Weiner for Complex Civil Litigation at Brooklyn Law. He was a brilliant attorney and a truly great man who cared dearly for his family and often spoke fondly of them. I was fortunate to know that I wanted to be a litigator and Professor Weiner helped me get my first job in litigation at Deloitte LLP under a former associate of his in 2008 when the legal market was terrible. I really wish I had reached out sooner to let him know how he impacted me and helped me to follow my dream and become a successful litigator. I hope I can help others like he helped me.

I had the pleasure of meeting Steve as an adversary in a very hard fought mergers and acquisitions battle in the mid-1980s. It was so intense that I had to testify about the matter, and Steve was my inquisitor. Out of that experience grew our friendship, which continued for many years. He was a gentleman and a mensch and a great lawyer. I miss him.

Steve was the first "young partner" to interview me when I was seeking to be hired as an associate by WSP&R in 1970; I had been with a firm in Puerto Rico since my graduation in 1966. He opened the interview by stating that he had significant reservations about hiring lawyers other than from law schools or judicial chambers. Direct, clear and crisp. Happily, Steve graciously overcame his doubts and let me slip by. I had many occasions to work under his guidance: always supportive, always scary bright, always sharply focused on the matter before us. As a law partner, he was always collegial, always generous in sharing his views, always a massive resource for his partners. I feel a certain gratitude I had an opportunity to cross paths with Steve.

Dear Mina - I was so sorry to read Steve's obituary. I remember those times we spent together so fondly, from that first meeting in Acapulco on our honeymoons to the tennis games in Westport and Sands Point and Steve's unfailing sense of humor. With most heartfelt condolences, Ralph

I met Stephen in the US Army after we both completed law school. Although we have not been in touch, I have followed his career with great admiration. My condolences
