STUART GOLDMAN

GOLDMAN--Stuart B., age 87, passed away peacefully in New York City after a brief illness. Born and raised in New York City, he was a graduate of Cornell University and Yale Law School. After Law School he went into corporate law at Cravath, Swain and Moore for many years. He then moved to Lazard Freres. In his later years he formed a company that pursued investments in large properties all over the country. With his wife, Alice Hildreth, whom he married over 59 years ago, he pursued his love of skiing and sailing. He served as President of The Amateur Ski Club of New York. On Shelter Island he kept his sailboat off the dock of his beloved home in the village of Dering Harbor. He was very involved in the Shelter Island Yacht Club, where he was a Trustee. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind two daughters, Margaret Verheijen (Jan) and Genevieve Peirce (George), and three grandchildren, Jessica and Emma Verheijen and Carter Peirce. He had an inquisitive mind and wonderful sense of humor. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends
