SUSAN BLUMENTHAL Obituary

BLUMENTHAL--Susan H., devoted mother of Martha and Adam; mother-in-law of Chris Farrell and Lynn Feasley; grandmother of Rosemary and Benjamin Farrell and Eli, Lassor and Ketzel Feasley; wife of the late Lassor A. Blumenthal; died April 7 in her sleep at age 91. Dr. Blumenthal was born in Floral Park, Queens, to Frances and Archie Hahn. She graduated from Antioch College and received her EdD from Teachers College; and worked in private practice into her 80s, helping countless adults with learning disabilities complete college, medical and law degrees. She often said she had meaningful work, a family she was proud of, and a loving marriage, and that made a complete life. She lived in the Penn South apartment she moved into in her first year of marriage until weeks before her death, surrounded by the books, music and art she loved. At her request, there will be no service; but contributions to the Southern Poverty Law Center would be appreciated.

U OF ILLINOIS FRIEND & ROOMMATE, SUE TAUGHT ME GREAT STUDY HABITS. WE BROUGHT OUR BIKES DOWN FROM CHICAGO AND HAD SOME GREAT, LONG BIKE RIDES OFF CAMPUS. IN JUNE WE SENT ALL OUR STUFF HOME TO CHICAGO AND WENT DOWN TO NEW ORLEANS, ARRIVING AT 10;30 PM. THE POOL WAS EMPYY WITH NO ONE AROUND, SO WE DESIGNED A "SYNCHRONIZED SWIM", PERFORMED IT, AND TO OUR HORROR RECEIVED AN APPLAUSE. ....SUE'S SUCCESS IN THE BUSINESS WORLD IS NO SURPRISE TO ME.
