I first met Susan when I was a teenager in the '70s and she worked with my father, Jack Sanders, at The Daily News. She was the hippest, coolest person I'd ever met and I wanted to be just like her. She befriended me, kindly taking me with her to rock concerts and letting me stay with her in the city. When she and Lorenzo married, I was in the wedding and my dad gave her away.
We've lost touch over the last ten years or so and I was shocked today to discover her passing. She was a wonderful friend to our family and someone I always admired. I just wanted to express my grief at hearing this sad news.
Warm wishes from Julie and Louise Sanders to Lorenzo, Kate and Nick—we are so sorry for your loss.

I knew Sue for some 24 years but was not close to her at all. Knew her family much better, she seemed to be a very nice person. Her husband Lorenzo was always comical in discussion. I wish him and the children blessed memories of their mother.

It was wonderful having Susan as a good friend in high school in Cincinnati. We were nerdy together, reciting Shakespeare and being in the Book Club. But her innate wit and good nature let her transcend into adulthood and achieve so much. Including her wonderful family of whom she bragged in her letters. Peace be upon you, Susan.

Susan was creative and funny and always helpful to writers, including this one. She had a shrewd understanding of people and the very tough business in which she attained much deserved success.
