TAUBMAN--Sylvia

(Kopelman). Age 92. An accomplished teacher, devoted wife, beloved mother and grandmother passed away on October 11, 2017, after a brief illness. She and Joseph Taubman were married for 56 years until his passing in 2005. She is survived by her sons Edward (Nancy) and Paul (Danielle), grandchildren Michele, Brendan, and Liam, and her sister Jeanette. She earned a degree in chemistry from Brooklyn College, worked as a bacteriologist for the City of New York at Bellevue, received a master's degree in education from C.W. Post, and for many years served as a highly-respected biology teacher at Syosset High School. A student of Yiddish and Yiddish literature, she was involved for decades with the Workmen's Circle. Aunt Sylvia to countless nephews, nieces, and their children and grandchildren, she was loved by all. She led a deeply meaningful life--defined by faith, charity, community, education, and achievement. She will remain forever in our hearts and memories.
