T. BROOKS Obituary

BROOKS--T. Anthony, died on December 3, 2025 surrounded by family in Jackson, Wyoming. Tony was born in Short Hills, New Jersey on September 16, 1939 to Charles W. and Honour S. Brooks, and was raised with his two younger brothers, Colin and Michael. He was a graduate of Kent School ('58) where he played football, hockey and tennis and Yale University ('62) where he captained the tennis team and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon. After two years of active duty as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Barton, Tony married Linda Leith, the love of his life for 61 years. They raised their three children, Charley, Rhys and Leith in Rye, New York. Devoted to one another and as parents, Tony and Linda created strong family bonds. Tony had a rewarding career on Wall Street where he was known for his uncompromising integrity, strong work ethic, good judgment and colorful sense of humor. He worked at First Boston and Loeb Rhoades before moving to Salomon Brothers, where he distinctly reminisced about colleagues and stories from the desk. He finished his career at Lehman Brothers in 1997 as Global Head of Capital Markets and a member of the Operating Committee. When Tony and Linda first visited Jackson, Wyoming with his brothers in 1980, it was love at first sight. They immediately bought a home, returned often on family vacations, and moved there permanently upon Tony's retirement. They built strong new friendships and embraced the outdoors and the local community. Tony and Linda were inseparable and almost always in motion. Together, they hiked the peaks, skied the chutes, cycled the paths, and fished the rivers of Teton Valley and the broader West. Tony also enjoyed sailing, hunting and golf, though his first love was skiing. He raced until the age of 83 and, for many years, skied the mountain from opening to closing day, bell to bell. Tony was dogged in pursuit of total mastery, yet humble enough to know he would never get there. At day's end, Tony loved nothing more than making a fire and sharing a meal full of stories with family and friends. He was a man of quiet confidence who led by example with his trustworthiness, high standards of personal responsibility and steadfastsupport of those close to him. Tony was a generous and grateful man who believed in the importance of giving back. He supported numerous local and national causes including the schools he attended and those of his children and grandchildren. He served on the board of Kent School, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and as chairman of the board of Jackson Hole Land Trust. When their oldest son, Charley, died tragically at the age of 22, Tony and Linda established a scholarship at the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) in his name. He also was loyal to his roots and, despite not having the occasion to use his many associations and club memberships on the east coast, he remained a devoted member to the end of his life. He loved his country and was proud of his family's legacy of service in the U.S. Navy. The American flag would always hang from his home. He cherished time and adventures with his family, especially skiing, fishing, trap shooting, hiking and horseback riding with his children and grandchildren. This past fall, he took one last float on the Snake River with Linda, Rhys and Leith, and cheerfully celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary with Linda just days before his passing. He was a devoted member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Jackson, Wyoming. He is survived by his wife, Linda, brother, Michael (Dede), children, Rhys (Mandy) and Leith (Stewart), eight grandchildren, Berkeley, Haley, Olivia, Annie, Keeley, Rhys, Brooke and Mac, and two beloved dachshunds, Bossman and Belle. He is predeceased by his son, Charley, and brother, Colin. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 3:00pm at St. John's Episcopal Church, Jackson, Wyoming.
