VERONICA PETERSEN Obituary

PETERSEN--Veronica Stinnes. Dr. Veronica Petersen "Ronnie" died at her home on Waquoit Bay, in Falmouth, MA, on July 28, 2021, after a brief illness. She was 88. Her husband, their children and several grandchildren were with her as she passed. Ronnie was born in Freiburg, Germany. Her family fled Germany in 1938 and settled in Philadelphia, where her father taught at Haverford College. She graduated from Pembroke University and then Columbia Medical School, where she met her future husband, Dr. Robert Petersen. After completion of their medical training the couple settled in the Boston area, where Ronnie practiced pediatrics and taught at Harvard Medical School. She was generous with both her time and treasure, serving on the boards or advisory councils of numerous Boston area educational and artistic organizations. She was especially pleased with her role as board member at Haverford College, where she endowed a professorship in Peace Studies. She enjoyed travel, music, art and investing, and was a gracious host to family, friends and colleagues. Ronnie is survived by Robert, her husband of 65 years; their three children, Anne, Katy and John; their eight grandchildren; and her sister, Angela Hobart. Her generous spirit and clear- minded conversation will be missed by all who knew her.
