VICTOR GARBER Obituary

GARBER--Victor. Surrounded by his loving wife and family, Victor Garber, passed away on Father's Day after an incredibly full life. Victor grew up in Staten Island and loved Willie Mays who he is now having a catch with in heaven. Victor had an illustrious career as an anesthesiologist. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was Chief of Anesthesia at Letterman General Hospital at the Presidio in San Francisco. He worked at Hackensack Medical Center and became the Chief of Anesthesia at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center and the Medical Director of Surgicare in Watchung, NJ. Vic had a special and unique bond with each of his three children (Laura, Jill and Glenn) and nine grandchildren who all loved him dearly. He had a sharp wit and a wicked sense of humor. Victor is survived by his best friend, wife of 66 years, and the love of his life, Joan. If anyone wishes to make a donation in memory of Victor, please consider: The Exoneration Initiative, https://www.exoneration initiative.org or The Nature Conservancy in New Jersey, 200 Pottersville Road, Chester, NJ 07930.

Victor, may he rest in peace, was my oldest first cousin and was one who I admired and looked up to. I loved and adored his parents and naturally gravitated to their children and spouses. He was charming, handsome, and possessed a rare and rye sense of humor and was an engaging conversationalist. Everyone enjoyed his company. May the warm memories that he leaves behind be a source of comfort to all the loved ones that surrounded his dear life. Martin L. Leib, M.D.

On behalf of Pi Lambda Phi, please accept our sincere condolences on Victor´s passing. Hopefully, everyone who loves him will be able to be together to celebrate his life and share fond memories of him.

I've updated our records so that we will remember Victor again when our fraternity convenes for our annual gathering next summer in what we call our "Chapter Eternal Remembrance Ceremony." The names of brothers who have passed are read, candles are lit in their memory, somber fraternal prayers are recited, and beautiful songs are sung. It's our way of noting that although they are no longer with us in body, they are remembered.
