I often saw Vita when I was a teenager and she was a friend of my parents (Bud and Joan Stillman) in the 1950s and 1960's. She was the funniest, most interesting and most attractive woman I had ever met - and that leaves a strong impression on a teenage boy. Thank you, Vita.

I was lucky enough to have been a student of Vita Petersen when she taught at the Spence School. She was genuinely loved, respected and admired by so many of us. She had a spirit and grace that inspired us all. It was an honor to know her. Lee Perry (Spence School, 1970)
