WALTER BUCKLEY Obituary

BUCKLEY--Walter W. The Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff of NYU Langone Health mourn the loss of Walter W. Buckley Jr., a dear friend, visionary leader, and deeply generous benefactor of our organization for many decades. From 2018 until his passing, Walter served as an esteemed Trustee of the health system. Together with his wife, Marjorie, he provided philanthropic support to advance a wide range of institutional priorities, and the two played a central role in a herculean philanthropic effort to launch NYU Grossman School of Medicine's Tuition Free initiative and forever change medical education. Walter and Marjorie also supported major growth and innovation in NYU Langone's Department of Surgery, and much else. Walter's brilliance, energy, remarkable business acumen, and generosity of spirit left an indelible mark on NYU Langone. Our deepest condolences to Marjorie and their four children, Walter White Buckley III, Brooke Ashforth, Alexandra Buckley Voris, and Robert E. F. Buckley, their eleven grandchildren, and the entire Buckley family. Kenneth G. Langone, Chair, Board of Trustees; Robert I. Grossman, MD, Dean and CEO
