WALTER FARBER Obituary

FARBER--Walter V., 87, a well-respected real estate lawyer and arbitrator, passed away on January 21, 2022. He and his wife, Miriam, adored each other and traveled often together. He was devoted to his daughter, Ricki Farber (Aaron Zitner), to grandchildren Emily Zitner and Nathaniel Zitner, and they to him. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia Law School, he was a former partner at Willkie Farr & Gallagher. A competitive fencer, he won gold medals in the Pan American Games and was part of the 1960 U.S. Olympic team. He brought the same intensity to tennis and, later, to bridge. He played often at the Honors Bridge Club where, as in all areas of his life, he was sought out for his knowledge and advice. He will be sorely missed.

"Wally" graduated from Penn just as I was entering as a freshman . He came back frequently to take training with his Penn coach, Maestro Lajos Csiszar. A finalist candidate for The USA Olympic Fencing Feam, he won the individual sabre championship at the World Maccabiah Games in Israel. We were teammates there.
It is still hard to realize that he is gone.
