I am Vreni Bollag from Zürich. I just discovered that Walter has left us at the end of July. Not long ago we talked on the phone. I can't believe it. I tried to contact Walter and couldn't understand that he didn't answer.... I am so sad about his death. Please contact me. Is Phyllis reachable? We were close friends and so were already my parents, Walter and Madeleine Bollag from Frauenfeld, Switzerland. The Loebs were welcoming us when we arrived in New York in 1970, with our oldest daughter then about 8 months old, Katrin. Actually Charles picked us up at the airport. AND: they had filled our fridge with goodies !!! Please contact me soon. warmly. Vreni

Walter and I worked together (as colleagues) at Morgan Stanley in the 1970s. He covered retail stocks while I covered the chemical sector. Walter had more experience in the stock market than I, and he was always helpful as I learned the intricacies of the "trade." We did have a bit of overlap in a sub-sector, in that several of the chemical companies I covered manufactured synthetic fibers -- a critical raw material for the apparel that was sold at retail stores that he covered. Beyond this natural connection, Walter, who had much more experience in securities, was so helpful in advising me about conducting my research, putting that knowledge together in cogent written reports sent to clients, and conducting marketing meetings & seminars as part of the effort to build a base of appreciative clients. He was very likable, kind, and good-natured and was an excellent role model. While we haven't been in touch for many years, it's clear that he had a very positive attitude toward people, his warmth would show through, and he made positive lasting impressions.
