I know this is very late, but Wendy was on the set in 1994 of her teleplay, "The Heidi Chronicles" and I was cast as an extra. They had another actor cast for a role that I eventually got. After getting asked by the director if I wanted the part, and I agreed, we shot the scene. It was with Kim Cattral and Jamie Lee Curtis. I played a character named "twist & smoke" and after or maybe before we shot, I remember her looking my up & down and saying, "You're perfect, perfect" for the role. She was pleased and so was I. Thank you Wendy. The world misses you....

I read a quote of Ms. Wasserstein's that said: "I never want to leave a room and be thought of as a horrible person." What a most incredible statement. This precious woman was a gift and even though a gift is lost, it is always cherished and never forgotton. Miss Wendy, God bless you and keep you. My prayers to all family members with the most sincere affection.

My deepest sympathies to Lucy and Wendy's family. As a mother of a 5 year old adopted when I could not conceive, Wendy's mid age motherhood inspired me. Her writing was the finest and my god keep her in good hands.

May we all hope that her work will inspire women writers of a new generation to awaken the consciousness of the society to women's issues - through allowing a vehicle for direct observation.

I am crying right now for the family of Wendy Wasserstein, epecially Lucy. I had just finished Wendy's autobioigraphy a few months ago and felt I was right there with her at Mt. Sinai as she gave birth. Why does one so good and talented, a mother of one so young have to go? I hope she found peace at the end, I know she is at peace now, and understands why her time came so early. To her family - I am so sorry that you had to experience this - may Wendy guide you and protect you from the Other Side. May blessings be bestowed upon you all in the future. Shalom.

Wendy Wasserstein was my hero. How cruel that we have lost her so young. How grateful I am to have been blessed by her work and perspective on life.

My heart breaks to hear this news. I saw every one of Wendy's plays in New York, read all her books, and triumphed vicariously in all her successes. I was moved by Wendy's quest to become a mother and by her generosity to Jewish and other causes. As a lymphoma survivor of around Wendy's age, this hurts all the more. May her daughter Lucy Jane, and her entire family be comforted in this time of loss.

As a fellow alumna of Mount Holyoke, I had the great fortune to often hear Ms. Wasserstein talk. Her passing is a great loss to not only the theater community, but to an entire generation of women.

We had the pleasure of hearing Wendy Wasserstein at the JCC of Greater Washington in Rockville, MD a couple of years ago and were entranced and amused by her wit. This past Saturday night we saw a local production of the Sisters Rosenzweig for the first time and found it wonderful. Ms. Wasserstein was an exceptional talent.

Wonderful Wendy,

Such a terrible loss of a BRILLIANT woman. My heart aches for little Lucy Jane. The magnificent body of work will endure. A true original you evoked anger and praise from the right and the left. In the end, it was the questioning of our own selves that you helped us see and understand our fellow (wo)man.

You will be sorely missed.
