WILLIAM CALISE

1938 - 2022

CALISE--William Joseph, 83, died peacefully Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at his Carls- bad, CA home with his family by his side. He was a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, passionate attorney and trusted counselor and mentor who always spoke his truth. Bill was born May 22, 1938, in New York City. He grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and attended McBurney School. In 1960, Bill graduated from Bucknell University. He then attended Columbia University where he graduated with a JD/MBA in 1963. After completing his studies, Bill served as an Army Captain in Korea. Following his service, Bill returned to New York City and joined Chadbourne & Parke law firm where he began a 37-year successful law career. Bill, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, served as a member of the firm's management committee for ten years. In 1994, Bill joined Rockwell International as general counsel. He retired from Rockwell in 2004. Bill enjoyed his retirement living in California with his wife Kathryn. He always considered himself a New Yorker and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Yankees. He traveled regularly to New York to visit his family, attend the opera at Lincoln Center, baseball games at Yankee Stadium and eat authentic New York bagels. Bill is survived by his wife, Kathryn Calise; his daughters Kimberly Calise Veber (Jeffrey) and Andrea Calise (Linda); Kathryn's daughters Alia Gala and Elizabeth Gala Bruckner (Andre); his grandchildren Emma Veber, Julia Veber, Anna Veber, Sophie Calise, Ella Calise and Lucas Calise, Wolfgang Bruckner and Adrian Bruckner; his brother Nicholas Calise (Mary); and the mother of his children, Elizabeth Calise.
