WILLIAM HANAWAY

HANAWAY--William L., Jr. William L. Hanaway, Jr., of Wayne, PA, died on December 30, 2018, at age 89. Son of the late William L. Hanaway and Nell Prince Hanaway, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lorraine (Kure) Hanaway; his daughter Annie C. Hanaway (Peter); two grandsons Will and Robin Hanaway; and brother Joseph Hanaway. A distinguished scholar of ancient Persian language, literature, and culture, Dr. Hanaway was a longtime professor at the University of Pennsylvania. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19th at 11am in the Old Church at St. David's Episcopal Church in Wayne, PA. Reception follows, 12-3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dr. Hanaway's honor to the Memorial Library of Radnor Township, radnorlibrary.org.
