WILLIAM LIFLAND Obituary

LIFLAND--William T. The partners, associates and staff of Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP are profoundly saddened by the passing of William T. Lifland, our esteemed former partner and friend of 57 years. Bill was a preeminent antitrust practitioner. During his many years at the Firm, after serving as the President of the Harvard Law Review and as law clerk for Justice John Marshall Harlan on the Supreme Court of the United States, Bill helped Cahill Gordon to define and distinguish its prominent antitrust practice and was a long standing trusted advisor to many of the firm's clients. In addition to his law practice at Cahill, Bill was for many years a professor at Fordham Law School, an antitrust columnist for the New York Law Journal and author of books on antitrust subjects. Through his teaching, writing and lecturing, Bill educated generations of antitrust lawyers. The bar has lost a true gentleman, scholar and leader. We are proud to have been his partners, friends and colleagues. Our deepest sympathies to his wife, Nancy, their daughter Carol, and their sons Charles, Kerin and David.
