I was thinking about this man today.
He was my transplant surgeon in 1990. He also took my parathyroid out and transplanted part of it my arm 6 months after. Told my husband today that he saved me in many ways.
Sorry to hear He is gone now. He was a real trailblazer for many. He saved many lives. A wonderful man indeed.

Gave me my first medical job, and always a great personal example ....still using some of the same expressions with my patients and staff that he did! He showed me the joy of being a general surgeon and is one of the reasons I became one. Still in awe of his interpersonal cognitive and techical skills to this day.

To the Pfaff Family,
When I received the call that Dr. Pfaff was in Hospice, I am glad I followed my heart instead of my mind. He may not have known I was there physically, but he knew spiritually. The years working with him were that of pleasure. He was always kind and pleasant with that special SMILE! My first and last Gator football game was due to his generosity. He would always bring me match books from various transplants to add to my collection.
We will miss him down here but heaven has gained a special angel!
With Deepest Respect.

I came to know Dr. Pfaff working first as LifeLink Foundation's controller and then as its CFO. He was a great volunteer who always gave freely of his time and knowledge, and he was a key member of our Board for many years, known to weigh issues very carefully before speaking with great economy and precision. In my personal dealings with him, I always found him to be a good humored, kind, dignified, and honorable man who treated everyone with great respect without regard for their relative station or background. In short, Dr. Pfaff was truly a class act, and he will be greatly missed.

I am another of the surgeons trained by Dr. Pfaff. To paraphrase Gabriel Garcia Marquez: Don't cry because it's over; be happy because it occurred. Thank you Dr. Pfaff. Charles Neustein, M.D.

Dr. Pfaff helped train me from 1973-78. He was an excellent surgeon/teacher and I considered him a friend. He had an great sense of humor and I enjoyed working with him. I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Pfaff family,
In 1973 Bill along with Bob Cade gave me the opportunity to be involved in renal transplantation research and clinical care. I worked closely with Bill rounding daily with him as he taught his residents and medical students while taking wonderful care of his patients treating them with kindness and respect. He gave me an opportunity that I have never forgotten. I was an older student and at that time being older was a barrier to medical school entrance. He was pivotal in my UF medical school acceptance and now I'm in my 31st year on the faculty as a professor of pediatrics.
He touched my life and he was a role model for me throughout my career to touch the lives of children and their families.
We will all miss him,
Always,
John A. Nackashi, MD
