WILLIAM RAPPAPORT Obituary

RAPPAPORT--William J.

1928-2018. A real New Yorker, he spent his life helping to make his city ever better, from creating a business which provided good jobs to many, to Chairing the 42nd Street Civic Association so that the neighborhood could be a safer and more welcoming place to live. He was named Man of the Year by Holy Cross Church (W. 42nd St) for his volunteerism, and will always be remembered for his generosity, altruism and humor. He leaves his wife of 69 years, Marcia; his brother, Dr. Irwin Rappaport; his three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Rappaport and Len Chazen, Sue and Don Guiney, Karen and Larry Rubinstein; and beloved grandchildren, Alex Guiney and Clare Latham, Matt Chazen, Noah Guiney and Rosario Santillana, Jessica Rubinstein and Mike Rubinstein. Funeral will be held at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 W. 76 Street, New York, NY on Friday, January 19. Please call 212 362 6600 for the time. Donations can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
