BAUER--Yehuda. The Officers, Board, and global staff of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee mourn the loss of Professor Yehuda Bauer, the renowned historian and towering figure in the field of Holocaust scholarship. A prolific author, Professor Bauer published over 40 books on Jewish history, including several volumes about JDC and those that highlighted our pivotal role in saving Jewish lives and shaping Jewish history over the past century, especially before, during, and after the Holocaust. Giving thanks for the life of the scholar and educator Yehuda Bauer who took the greatest sin of modern history, the Holocaust, and made a virtue by helping to set it up the event memory as a beacon fire to human beings to check their prejudices, turn to the light and save the collective soul. Vale sage. Condolences to loved ones.
