George Pearce Obituary

George "Wayne" Pearce

February 3, 1942 - July 25, 2025

George Wayne Pearce, a lifelong resident of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025, surrounded by his devoted wife, Linda, and cherished family. Born on February 3, 1942, Wayne's roots ran deep in the Auburn Community. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1960 and went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard. Later, he pursued higher education at Auburn University - a place remaining close to his heart throughout his life – and earned his accounting degree in 1971.

Wayne was a man of quiet passions and steady devotion. He loved the woodlands passed down from his Great Grandparents. After spending his entire professional career with West Point Stevens, most of his time was spent with family and tending to the land with care and pride. His love for beekeeping and gardening brought him joy and a sense of connection to nature. His collection of tools and toys – meticulously organized in his spotless garage – reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and order.

Wayne will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering devotion to those he loved, and the quiet strength he brought to every aspect of his life. Above all, he will be revered as a devoted husband, father, and proud "Grandpa," with a quick wit.

He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-four years, Linda; his sister, Miriam Pearce; his two sons, Bill Pearce (Jennifer); Jared Pearce (April) whom he shared with his first wife, Susan Brantley; his stepsons, Scott Pechman (Nici); Rob Pechman (deceased) and his grandchildren - Boone Pearce, Jackson Pearce, Thomas Pechman, Aiden Pechman, Jake Williams, and Fraley Williams.

A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Auburn on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 446 S. Gay Street, Auburn, Al 36830 or Kreher Preserve and Nature Center, C/O AU Foundation, 602 Duncan Drive, Auburn, AL 36849, ATTN: Development.

Wayne was a remarkable man with a quick wit. I revered his intellect and listened intently to his advice- which was always good! An honor and a privilege to know him - he will be missed. M OBrien
