Gregory Bradshaw Obituary

Gregory A. Bradshaw

September 14, 1965 - October 18, 2021

Greg Bradshaw, Age 56, died unexpectedly Monday, October 18, 2021, at his home in Auburn, Alabama. He was born September 14, 1965, in Decatur, Georgia, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Bradshaw, Jr. and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Forth and Mr. and Mrs. Fonso Bradshaw, all of Dublin, Georgia.

Following graduation from Marist School in 1984 he attended Presbyterian College on a football scholarship before graduating from St. Johns College. At Marist, he started lifelong friendships and enjoyed a state championship in wrestling along with being a fullback on a team that played for the state championship in 1983.

Teaching and coaching at Woodward Academy and Brentwood School stimulated his interest in literature and his personal library contains over 500 volumes. There were some high school literary awards that he treasured.

The love for teaching and coaching was overcome by the need for income and this led to entering the restaurant business in 1996. Two very successful restaurants are busy in downtown Auburn, Alabama. Some core employees were with him for the entire duration. Greg was active as chairman and CEO.

He was active with hobbies including wing hunting in South America, Louisiana, and the family farm in Dublin, Georgia. Many sports interests were enjoyed as he played Rugby worldwide. He followed the Braves, War Eagles and Georgia Bulldogs along with a dozen high school teams. There was still time left for literature.

Greg is survived by his parents Bobby and Betty Jean Bradshaw and brother Robby Bradshaw along with a large group of aunts and uncles as well as many cousins.

There will be a funeral service at Saint Dunstan's Episcopal Church conducted by his minister, Reverend Thomas Joyner at 1:00 Thursday, October 21 followed by a graveside service at 11:00 Friday, October 22 at Dublin Memorial Garden conducted by Reverend Kevin Tanner. Visitation will begin one hour before each service.

Funeral Services were provided by Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home and crematory in Opelika, Alabama and Stanley Funeral Home in Dublin, Georgia.

Greg was my neighbor, met him through his dog named Nate - had many long conversations in my front yard when he was out corralling Nate back home - he was kind, funny, intelligent, loved everyone he met - discovered our common interest in rugby and that I had actually watched him play many years ago, long before he and I ended up in Auburn and on the very same street! He will be missed by many but we'll all see him again soon - he'll be the one heading up the party in Heaven, serving tacos and pizza!

It only took one meeting for him to know your name forever. The smile he gave everyone made you feel like you were his best friend. He was a brightness that not many people exude.
