Julia (Judy) Harris Murphy

Julia (Judy) Harris Murphy, age 79, of Auburn, AL, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 13, 2021. She was a greatly loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Leon and Frances Ashurst Harris; her husband, Donald Wayne Murphy, Sr.; her sister, Carole Harris Ashlin and her brother, Robert Herman Harris. She is survived by her two sons, Donald Wayne Murphy, Jr and his wife, Sandy, of Columbiana, AL and Mark Harris Murphy and his wife, Stacy, of Birmingham, AL and her grandchildren, Madison Lynn Murphy of Columbiana, AL, Meghan Murphy Gray (Austin) of Birmingham, AL, Donald Mason Murphy (Sydney) of Alabaster, AL, Micah Wayne Murphy of Columbiana, AL, Amanda Murphy Memmler (Benjamin) of Raleigh, NC, and Scott Harris Murphy of Jackson, MS.

Judy was born in Selma, AL on September 19, 1941 and graduated from Tallassee High School in 1959. Graduating from Auburn University with highest honors, she received both a BS ('62) and MS ('65) in Education. She then taught in the mathematics department at Auburn University for 30 years. Judy was an active member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and Auburn First Baptist Church.

Following a 1:00pm family graveside service at Carrville Cemetery, the family will receive guests on Monday, July 19 at 2:00pm at Jeffcoat Funeral Home, 255 Friendship Rd, Tallassee, AL 36078
