William "Bubba" Maury Young, a long-time resident of Opelika, passed away on March 14, 2025, with his family at his side. Bubba was preceded in death by his parents Scotty, Jewel Banks Young and daughter-in-law, Deanna Bell Young. He survived by his devoted wife, Janice Blair Young of 38 years; sons, Jeff Young of Atlanta, Ga. Chris Young of Salem, Al. and Kelsey Young of Orange Beach., Al.; brother, Johnny/Betsy Young of Olive Branch, Ms.; and nephews, Stewart and Scott Young.
Bubba was born October 23, 1943, in Fayette, Al. Graduated from Auburn University School of Pharmacy. in 1966. He moved to Opelika in 1976 and Opened Bubba's Medicine Shop. Bubba was so proud to have served his community and customers where he made and loved so many people and friends. He was a kind, loving and honest man in all that he did. He took pride in getting to know all his customers and providing the best care to them.
Bubba is going to be missed by so many family/friends and people whose lives he has touched.
Bubba retired from Bubba's Medicine Shop in 2011 and moved to Orange Beach, Al. Bubba was affiliated with Flora-Bama Church on the Beach.

Bubba was a beloved member of the Sigma Nu fraternity at Auburn during the early 60´s. All the members at that time will remember Bubba as a key member of our chapter.

I am friends of his son Chris. Bubba was a great man. I recall him being very generous. He left an amazing legacy both in business and his personal life. He will be missed by so many. Rest in Peace.

Like the person above, I to was one of first customers. As his business grew he went to bigger businesses. He was one of the first to sell Opelika Bulldogs Shirts in his store. He always greeted you with excitement. His business ethics were outstanding. Now he is walking the streets of gold. God Bless all of you. You will see him in Heaven one day.
