Daniel Howard Obituary

ODESSA, TEXAS - Daniel Howard (aka Htay Tint) passed away on July 30, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, at the Medical Center Hospital of Odessa. He was born in Bassein, Burma on July 21, 1936 to Maung Kunt and Tin Nyunt. After Daniel graduated from high school, he studies engineering and earned a degree from the Government Technical Institute of Insein. He then pursued a career in the Defense Industries and Heavy Industries Enterprise. He ascended in ranks and commanded the defense industries in Burma as a colonel. After retirement, he relocated to the United States and lived in Odessa, TX for the last 25 years.

Daniel loved to play golf, enjoyed country western movies, and cherished his family. He was a detailed-oriented, highly organized hard worker, and an avid reader. The legacy of his kind spirit, perseverance and passion for helping others will live on through us all.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents Maung and Tin, and his sister Thaung Kyi. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Khin Myint (aka Alice Myint); his children, Thwe Htay of El Paso, TX, Mar Htay of Flushing, NY, Wah Win of Brooklyn, NY, and Lin Htay of Apache Junction, AZ; two grandchildren, Alex and Michelle Win; two step-grandchildren, Lily and Colby Htay; and his half-sister Hla Htay.

A private viewing and service were held at the Perches-La Paz Funeral Home on August 6, followed by cremation on August 11 at the American Heritage Cemetery Funeral Home Crematory. The family is grateful for the condolences, flowers, and donations.
