Darla Nixon Obituary

ODESSA - Our beloved mother, Darla Ann Fuller Nixon, 72, of Odessa TX, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2023. Darla is preceded in death by her parents, C.D. Fuller and Josephine & Kenneth Burns; sister, Linda Ferguson; and brother-in-law, Chuck Smeltzer. She is survived by her brother, Charles Fuller and wife Dianna; sisters, Paula Smeltzer and Donna Franks; daughter, Pam Nixon; and son, Joey Nixon and wife Nykky. She also leaves behind many nephews and nieces, whom she loved very much.

Darla was also known as Mamaw by her four grandchildren, MaKayla, Tamara, Nathaniel and Adleigh. Grandmother was one of her most favorite roles. She bragged and doted on her grandkids as often as she could.

Darla was a fighter and had a stubborn spirit, but it was those traits that helped her get through tough times and persevere. She enjoyed working in her yard and growing flowers. She took much pride in her home. She loved going to the movies and especially snacking on the buttered popcorn with a Diet Dr. Pepper. She enjoyed cooking for her family and always looked forward to making the holidays special.

Darla accomplished many great things in her life but I think she would say that her greatest accomplishment was her children. She always prayed that the good Lord not take her until she had raised her children and He did just that.

To honor Darla's memory, we are holding a celebration of her life to be arranged at a later date.
