Elodia Hernandez Obituary

ODESSA - Elodia Pina "Loli" Hernandez, 76, of Odessa, Texas, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021, at her home.

Elodia was born May 27, 1945, in Fort Stockton, TX to Domingo and Dominga Pina. On August 28, 1965, she married Samuel D. Hernandez in Odessa, Texas and was married for 52 years prior to his passing. Elodia graduated from Ector High School in 1964. She was a licensed cosmetologist after graduating high school. Elodia changed her career shortly afterwards and worked in the day care industry for most of her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and volunteered in several organizations throughout the community, such as St. Joseph's Youth group, Ector Ladies Lions Club and West Texas Track Club. Not only did she raise her two sons, but several children throughout the community. One of Elodia's passions was to follow the children she took care of in any of their extracurricular events, such as sporting events, band, choir, orchestra performances, as well as attending their high school and college graduations. Elodia was also a big Elvis Presly fan. The reason she loved Elvis so much, was because of his motto "TCB" (Taking Care of Business). This was something that she instilled in not only her own family but with every young man and woman she met. Her final words to her sons were "I love you and always be good". These are words that we can pass on to generations to come.

Elodia was proceeded in death by her husband Samuel D. Hernandez and parents Domingo and Dominga Pina.

She is survived by her two sons, Samuel Hernandez, JR of Odessa, TX and Stephen Hernandez and wife Virginia Hernandez of Odessa, TX, 8 grandchildren, Monique Simmons, Samantha Camacho, Stephen J. Hernandez, Samuel Hernandez III, Simon Hernandez, Estefon Hernandez, Brianna Palomino, and Sebastian Hernandez, 4 adopted grandchildren, Dr. Eugene Neboh, Felix Neboh, Richard Neboh and Dexter Neboh, and 13 great grandchildren. Brothers and sisters Bertha Pina, Natalie Reschman, Mary Alice Murillo and husband Gilbert Murillo, Mary Dolores Pina-Zavala and husband Rudy Zavala, Josie Bayless and husband Chris Bayless, Raul Rubio and wife Rosalinda Rubio and Noe Pina.

The greatest gift that she gave many of her family and friends, was the opportunity to spend some quality time, memories, tears, and laughter before her last days. She will be missed by many but never forgotten as she starts her life with the Lord.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 10 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
