Fritz Niggeler Obituary

Odessa - Fritz Rex Niggeler Jr., 61 of Odessa, TX, passed away on March 2nd, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones.

Fritz was born on July 21st, 1963 in Nashville, TN to Fritz Sr. and Rue Niggeler.

As Fritz was earning his high school diploma, he also made the achievement of becoming an Eagle Scout during his high school career.

Fritz was a dedicated public servant to the city of Midland as a firefighter for 28 years. He served as Fire Dispatcher, Fire Driver, Licensed Paramedic, Master Instructor, Battalion Chief, and retired as Assistant Fire Chief on January 14, 2017. He successfully and proudly continued his education by completing the Executive Fire Officer program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD.

He received his Bachelor's Degree at Midland College. He continued his education and graduated obtaining his MBA with honors (Delta Mu Delta) on August 13th, 2016 at Sul Ross State University.

Fritz is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Niggeler. He is survived by his children: Amanda "Bananas" Akins (Kyle), Derek Niggeler, Amanda "Punkin" Norred (Aaron), Bradley McDaniel, Travis McDaniel, Cassi Romo (Angel), Crystal Hickman, Larry Nichols (Brenda), and Connie Hernandez. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories with his grandchildren. He is also survived by many cherished aunts and uncles.

Fritz was preceded in death by both his parents, Fritz Sr. and Rue Niggeler.

The family would like to thank the Interim Hospice group, with a special thanks to Randal. Kelly would like to personally thank her sisters and Tamara Sutherland for their constant support.

A memorial service will be held at Stonegate Fellowship, 6000 W Wadley Ave., in Midland, TX on Friday, March 7th, 2025 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Midland Fire Department, mailing address is 1500 West Wall Midland, TX 79701.

Fritz worked in the jail in Midland also delivering medications to inmates for my late wife Virginia Strickland. Virginia used to talk so nice about Fritz. She said he was excellent help and never worried about him doing his job. I'm so sorry for you loss to the rest of the family!!
