Gavin Morrison Obituary

ANDREWS Gavin Shey Morrison, 19, of Odessa, Texas, passed away Friday, August 20, 2010, in Midland, Texas.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, Texas. The Rev. Jeff Boxx of Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Gavin was born September 17, 1990, in Midland, Texas. He graduated from Permian High School in Odessa in 2009. Gavin was a full-time student at Midland College and was majoring in Criminal Justice; he wanted to fight to make our world a better and safer place.
Gavin was a true soldier and disciple of Christ. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa.
Gavin loved to travel. Some of his travels included trips to Australia and to Europe with the People to People, student ambassador program. Gavin loved to hunt and go camping. He was a member of the NRA and was named to the Who's Who among High School Students. Gavin loved to hear all of the crazy stories that his uncle, Dirk McCown would share.
Gavin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Pat Morrison, Bryan Alexander and Jerry McCown.
Gavin's legacy will be carried on by his parents, Bill and Tina Morrison of Andrews; one brother, G.K. Morrison of Andrews; Grandparents, Ronnie and Nora McClanahan of Andrews and Linda "Nanny" McCown of Paint Rock, Texas; great-grandmother, Charlene Alexander of Andrews; aunts and uncles, Dirk McCown of Paint Rock, Jay and Traci McCown of Amarillo, Texas, Bryan and Amy Hoffman of Andrews and Josh and Isadora McClanahan of Andrews; cousins, Chelsea and Lindsey Hoffman, Jayden and Jaci McCown and Cameron Emma McClanahan; and several great- aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society, The American Diabetes Foundation or your favorite charity.
