Gloria Cortez Obituary
She was born on Jan. 31, 1955, in Odessa to Locadio R. Cortez and Maria (Benita) Cortez and was a lifelong area resident.
She worked at various home health facilities, a great caregiver for many elders she called "her" own. They loved how she cared for them with devotion to their best interests. She enjoyed antiques, yard sales, reading, dancing, travels, and much more.
Gloria was a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a mother, a grandmother, and an aunt (tia), randomly taking her nieces and nephews for car rides, movies and ice cream.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Matthew F. Sotelo of Austin; daughter, Saphira Angel Miereles; father and mother, Locadio R. and Benita G. Cortez; siblings: brother, Larry Cortez and wife Adeladia, and sisters, Juanita C. Maldonado and husband Manuel, Rita C. Perry and husband David, Magdalena (Maggie) Carrasco and husband Joe, and Elva Estrella, all of Odessa; four grandchildren: Isabella Gloria Sotelo, Amiyah Pealer, Daniel Miereles, and Izaree Hill.
Rosary will be recited at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Ector County Cemetery.

Not a single day passes that i dont think of u.. We all miss u like crazy... I just wish God wouldve left u with us longer.. Mommy i know ur still around me as at times i smeell ur perfume ... I still have all ur stuff put away but the sentimental value means so much... I love u forever and hope i make it to heaven with u when its my times... Almost 2 years now and it still hurts.. I hear you never get over it u just learn to cope nd continue on... Love u mommy!!!

Grandma today is your birthday your turning 61 i just wanted to tell you that i love you a lot and that i wish you were here so we could celebrate your birthday together but i know that you are in a better place now but it just sucks not having you here with me when im hurting or crying you were my bestfriend amd the best grandma anyone could have its been 1 year since you left it sucks that your not going to be here to see me graduate high school but you always said that you would always be with me and wait for me at the gates of heaven.
