James Gomez Obituary

ODESSA - James Adrian "Tata" Gomez, 50, of Odessa, Texas returned home to the Lord on Thursday, October 13, 2016. Tata was born to Hortencia "Tenchi" Ybarra and Jose Gomez on August 08, 1966. A headstrong child, who knew what he wanted and was not selective in sharing his opinions. He was a man firm in his ideals and steadfast in living life his way. Tata enjoyed nothing more than spending time at the lake, having a cold beer and good company. To know Tata was to love him and he fiercely returned that love. His presence will be missed profoundly by his parents, son Adrian Gomez and daughter Brittny Boutwell and spouse Robert; Siblings: Joe Gomez and spouse Juanita, Michelle Gomez and spouse Austin Ramirez; Nieces and nephew; Jill, Anthony, Tabitha and Gracy; Great nephews: Xavier, Nicolas and Luke. We celebrate Tata's homecoming and reunion of his beloved family: Sister Juanita; Uncles; Manuel "Meme' Ybarra, Hector Ybarra and Tony Ybarra, Sr.; Cousin Manuelito Ybarra and cherished grandparents Angelita and Antonio Ybarra. We know a game of dominoes is happening! Together we find comfort in our memories of times shared with you listening to oldies, eating your grilled stuffed burgers, your Monte Carlo and fishing. We will see each other again, Tata.A memorial service for James will be held at Odessa Funeral Home on Monday October 17, 2016 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 9:00 - 9:00 pm and Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm . Pallbearers include: Joe Gomez, Anthony Gomez, Robert Boutwell, Jose Ybarra, Tony Ybarra, Jr., Christian Joel "Yoyo" Pando. Honorary Pallbearers: Tio Sammy Ybarra and Tio Maclovio "Coyo" Gomez, Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home, Odessa, Texas.

Tenchi,Pepe,James's siblings and children: I am your cousin, Diana Gomez. My dad and Pepe are primos hermanos. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved son, brother, and father. It is a shame I never met James because we were of the same generation. If we met, we were too young. In reading the obit, I can tell he was a lot of fun and just an awesome, cool guy - but you wouldn't expect any less from a Gomez!

May the Lord bless you and keep you and give you peace!

Your prima,
Diana Gomez
