Kevin Chandler Obituary

ODESSA - Kevin Craig Chandler, 55, of Odessa Texas passed away December 22, 2020 at Medical Center Hospital surrounded by loved ones.

Kevin was born on May 23,1965 to Jimmy and Mary Ann Chandler in Odessa Texas. He grew up in the family business-The Odessa Nursery- this is where his love of flower and plants blossomed.

He had a "green thumb" and was very knowledgeable when it came to information about flowers and plants.

In High school, he met the love of his life and soul mate Cyndi Johnson. After a year or so of driving her around in his jacked up black Jimmy, he finally said, "yes!" They married on August 23,1984. Throughout the following years they had three wonderful children. A son and twin girls.

Kevin was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, son and uncle. Kevin always wanted to be a father and grew to be the true definition of what a dad is. He taught his kids how to hunt, fish, two-step dance, ride a bike and all the favorable moments you would crave.

He was the epitome of a family man. He dedicated his life to his family. He was there, always. A firm foundation through all our storms of life. A sturdy hand to hold on to in times of stress and strife. A true friend we could turn to when times were good or bad. One of our greatest blessings. He always spoke wisely and gave the best advice ending them with "always pray on it." And "Good enough." He had the kindest heart and purest soul.

What many people don't know about Kevin he was an excellent artist. He would love to sit and draw pictures of wildlife or rugged landscapes. He was able to draw and design some of the most breathtaking pools and water features that can still be seen around Odessa/midland.

Kevin also dedicated a lot of his time to kids playing sports. Kevin had the patience of a saint and was really able to connect with kids and teach them the fundamentals of the game, the perfect swing, the perfect kick. Most importantly he reminded them to have fun.

Kevin is survived by: his wife: Cyndi Chandler, his son: Cole Chandler, his daughters: Krysten Chandler, Kourtnye and Dylan Slaughter, his grandson: Witten Slaughter, his mother: Mary Ann Chandler, his sister: Kelli Chandler, her children: Brody Welch, Tiffani and Tanner Shanks, their children: Peyton and Jemma Shanks, and many other family members and countless friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Chandler, uncle, Larry Hoover, and grandmother, Ada Mae Chandler, grandfather, Howard Barney Chandler.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home from 6-8pm.

Funeral services will be held Monday January 11, 2021, at 2pm at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Church, graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
