Lance Temple Obituary

Odessa - Lance Neil Temple, 45, of Odessa, met Jesus face to face on December 23, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends. Lance was born in Odessa, Texas to Deborah and William Rex Temple on May 25, 1978. Lance accepted Christ in 2nd grade and was baptized shortly after. He went to Permian High School where he spent most of his days on the football field. He went on to graduate from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 2005. He married the love of his life, Jennifer Hughes, on July 30, 2005, at Temple Baptist. They were blessed with two amazing children, Averi and Chaz. If you knew Lance, you were the lucky one. His smile would light up the room and he never met a stranger. He made sure to pour his heart into any place he could. He spent most of his time working at Shamrock Steel surrounded by the best coworkers. He served on the Hope House board, as the president of the Permian Football Booster Club, as a small group leader at Crossroads, and as a board member of the Odessa Soccer Association. He spent many hours in the gym where he met the best of friends. He coached many years of rec soccer and football. He was also a club soccer coach for Burn F.C. His most favorite place to pour his heart out was to his kids. He never missed anything they were involved in. He truly was one of the best and had many friends from every walk of life. Lance is survived by his wife Jennifer, children Averi and Chaz, parents Deborah and Rex Temple, sister Yvonne Owen and brother-in-law Clark Owen, niece Kayla Owen and nephew Cade Owen, and the most amazing aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends. Lance is preceded in death by his grandparents. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 28th, 2023, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the Crossroads Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 29th, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Crossroads Church. Arrangements are made by Sunset Funeral Home and Crossroads Odessa. In lieu of flowers, we would love for donations to be sent to The Hope House of Odessa and/or Crossroads Student Ministry as these are two organizations Lance was passionate about. Our family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Triple S, the staff at Texas Oncology, Interim Hospice, Hope House, Jason Payne, and most importantly his sister Yvonne Owen. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Odessa. To send condolences the family, please sign his guestbook at www.sunsetodessa.com.
