Michael Servatius Obituary

VERNON Michael Wayne Servatius, 50, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Servatius, 500, Chapel Hill Drive, died Friday Aug. 28 in United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls.

Mike was the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. M.R. Riffubaugh of Vernon. In addition to his parents, he is survived by three brothers, David (and wife Leslie) of Beaverton, Ore., Larry, also of Beaverton, and Steve of Vernon.

He was born in Chillicothe, Texas, on Nov. 5, 1958, and attended schools in Plainview, graduating from Plainview High School before moving with his family to Midland in 1979. He received an associate's degree in auto body technology from Texas State Technical Institute in Waco and was self-employed until he moved to Vernon two years ago.

An avid fisherman, Mike enjoyed nothing more than spending hours on his boat in area lakes in West Texas and North Central Texas.

He died as a result of a massive dental infection, which quickly spread, affecting his lungs and heart developing into pneumonia.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at graveside at the family plot in Eastview Memorial Park, Vernon.

I was so shocked to hear of Mike's passing. Even though we are cousins, I don't remember when I last saw him. My prayers are with his family and knowing you have great memories of Mike to help comfort you.

I was so shocked to see this... I often wondered about Mike and where he was. I didn't ever see or hear from him after I moved away from Midland. I hate this news and I'm so sorry for the family. My thoughts are with you all.
