Rex Edward Joslin

MELVIN, TX - Rex Edward Joslin, age 90, of Melvin, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in Odessa, Texas. Rex was born November 19, 1930 in Pineville, Missouri to James Arthur Joslin and Carrie Edith (Bullard) Joslin. He became a Christian at the age of 11 during a revival in Pineville. He graduated high school in 1948 in Pineville where he enjoyed playing basketball, softball and track. He joined the U.S. Navy in March of 1952 and was honorably discharged on June 4th, 1956. He was married and fathered 4 children and in 1977 he was ordained a Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Odessa. Rex worked many years in oilfield equipment sales and service and retired 1990. After moving to Brady, where he joined the First Baptist Church, he met and married the love of his life, Geneva Louise (DuBose) Mosley on July 15, 2000. He and Geneva made their home in Melvin, Texas until their health prompted them to move to Odessa in November of 2018, where Rex had family that cared for them over the past few years. He loved working outside and watching the hummingbirds. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, eating pecans, butterscotch candy and spending time sitting by the fish pond he made in the back yard.

Funeral services for Rex Joslin will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 at 10:00am at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady with Gary Sutton officiating. Interment will follow at the Melvin Cemetery in Melvin. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Pallbearers will be Luke Maxwell, Chad Maxwell, Mike Lowry, Bob Camp, George Matula and Bobby Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cory Maxwell, Matthew Maxwell, Ian Ingram and Derek Deaton.

Rex is survived by loving children; son Joel Joslin of Odessa, Texas; daughters Jaynan Morris of Odessa, Texas Joylyn Ingram and husband Ward of El Dorado, Kansas and Jana Maxwell and husband Mark of Odessa, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and 2 nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Geneva, 4 brothers, 2 sisters and son-in-law Jim Morris.
