Robert Slusher Obituary

SANTA ANNA Robert "Bob" Slusher age 78 of Odessa, Texas, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2008, at his residence in Odessa.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Stewardson Cemetery with Rev. Kermit Sorrells officiating. Interment will follow at Stewardson Cemetery, which borders Bob's ranch, Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 p.m. till 7 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home.

He was born Robert Leland Slusher on March 20, 1930, in Corning, Missouri, to the late Rhessa and Mona Schweers Slusher. On September 2, 1950, Bob married Helen Joan Day in Wichita Falls, Texas, and they have celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage. Bob graduated from Rockport High School, attended Air Force Military Schools and served as an Air Force Instructor.

After Service in Okinawa, Bob worked offshore as a wireline service operator, and transferred to Odessa in 1956. In the ensuing years, Bob operated a rental company, bought and restored a Coleman County ranch, and retired from General Tire & Rubber Company after 29 years. Bob will be remembered for his faith in God, his patience and understanding, his strong work ethic, his mechanical ability, his conservative beliefs, and his love of family.

SURVIVORS Wife, Helen Slusher of Odessa, Texas; children, Monte and wife, Shelia Slusher, Susan Duckworth, Sherry and husband, Chip Short, Mitch Slusher, Sandy and husband, John Bradford all of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren, Christy and Jody Bronaugh, Carie Lingle, Jennifer Norris, Matthew and Shilo Duckworth, Heather and Rusty Dunn, Natalie and Jaren Human, Steph­anie Slusher, Ryan and Jessica Slusher, Sarah and Cody Griffin, Drew Bradford, Emily Bradford, Lindsey Duckworth; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by brother Leon Slusher; and son-in-law, Ronnie Duckworth.
