I grew up across the street from Ronnie on 36th street and he was my very best friend until my family moved to Gardendale when I was in the 6th grade. We loved little league and I used to pitch to Ronnie on our team. We had great adventures in our neighborhood and I missed him so much when we moved. Thankfully, we were just able to connect again after all of these years just a few months ago on Facebook. It was so nice to share a few stories, etc. I’m so sorry for his many friends and family for their loss.

Ronnie was a very nice man. He shopped at the grocery store I worked at. He always called by name and joked and smiled. He told me truth if I ask him a question. Very informative gentlemen. He knew his people. Ronnie will be missed..

When I first met Ann was while Ronnie was convalescing after a major illness and Ann said her husband was quite ill. In my mind I imagined a frail little old man. Later when I met Ronnie he was quite robust; not little or frail at all! From the first time I met him, Ronnie called me by name. Was I something special to Ronnie? Not at all. I’m sure he was that way with everyone he met. Seeing Ronnie at the grocery store he was all excited about a new grand baby AND a new pickup. When I was putting my groceries in the car, here drove Ronnie waving, spinning his wheels and revving the engine with the zeal of a teenager! That’s how I’m going to remember him; showing off in his new pickup acting like a teenager.

My first thought was that he was always kind to me, but I would imagine he made everyone feel special, I’m hoping he and Steve are playing a round in heaven awaiting our arrival

Sorry for your loss. I knew Ronnie and Ann and the whole family. I did business with Curley's Machine and saw Ann and Butchie on a regular basis and kept up with Ronnie through Ann. We all grew up together ion Odessa when the times were good. Godspeed Ronnie!
