Allan Leonard "Al" Casciola, 77, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 12, 2025, in his home in Andover, Ohio. Allan was born March 20, 1948, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Alfonso Thomas and Amelia Margaret "Nellie" Fratoni Casciola, and had been an Andover resident since 1980 after relocating from Pittsburgh. Allan grew up on a dairy farm in Avella, and graduated from Avella High School as an accomplished student athlete, which included serving as class president his junior and senior years, being active in National Honor Society and playing football and basketball. Allan earned a bachelor's degree from Wittenberg University, Master's in Economics from Penn State University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. At Wittenberg, he was a four-year starter on the Tigers football team and a proud member of Phi Gamma Delta ("FIGl"), where he was known as Horse. Allan came to Andover to start Casciola Feed and Supply and also operated additional businesses catering to the farm and garden community including Casciola Feed and Garden, Andover Farm & Garden and Uncle Al's Produce. Al truly enjoyed visiting with and "making his deliveries" to his customers and did so until to his untimely passing. Allan was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Parish (fka Our Lady of Victory Parish) in Andover. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and sister, Donna. In recent years, Allan cherished his time with JoAnn at home and visiting family and friends. Al passionately officiated high school football for 50 years and enjoyed supporting the community through umpiring youth baseball and softball. He was an avid photographer, master gardener and a proud purveyor of antiques. Allan was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, which included witnessing Franco Harris' "Immaculate Reception" in 1972. And lastly, Allan is remembered for his deep love of golden retrievers. His survivors include three children: Justin (Jaime) Casciola of Chicago, Ill.; Allan Zachary (Lisa) Casciola of St. Louis, Mo.; and Anne (Domingo) Gomez of Bay Village, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, lsabella, Dominic, Luca, Maria, Patrick, Cecilia, Lucia, Mario, Wendy and Nicholas; his sister, Donna Casciola Sapone of Malvern; the mother of his children and close, dear friend, JoAnn Welch of Ashtabula, Ohio; and his golden retriever, Rudy. Allan was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Joesph Sapone. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, October 25, in the Our Lady of Victory, 481 South Main Street, Andover. A Memorial Mass is planned for 12:30 p.m. followed by a luncheon on site. Private burial at Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover, will take place at a later time.
