Barbara McPeake Obituary

Barbara Anne McPeake, 84, of Houston passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in McMurray Hills Manor, with her family by her side. She was born January 26, 1939, in Warren Rhode Island, a daughter of the late Louis C. and Catherine Mello Huriaux. Barbara was a graduate of Warren High School class of 1946 and a graduate of Treesdale Nursing School in Massachusetts. Prior to her retirement Barb was a registered nurse employed at Washington Hospital for over 30 years. Mrs. McPeake was a devout member of St. Oscar Romero Parish, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadowlands where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and Guild and served on the Christian Mothers Scholarship Committee. Barb has lived in Houston for 24 years and was an avid reader, reading 4 papers a day, including her hometown papers from Rhoad Island. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and her dog Reilly. On October 12, 1963, she married her devoted husband David A. McPeake who survives after 60 years of marriage. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved children, Brian (Leah Anne) McPeake of Washington, Pamela (Curtis) Poremski of Apollo and Paul McPeake of Hilo Hawai; her five dear grandchildren, Emily (Ryan) McCartney, Adam McPeake, Jacob (Paige) Poremski, Kyle and Peter Poremski; and three nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. Deceased is her brother Robert Huriaux. Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday January 14, 2024, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:40 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Oscar Romero Parish ST. PATRICK CHURCH 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp. So sorry to hear of Barb´s passing. I worked with her at Washington Hospital. She was always a joy to be around. I would always tease her about her New England accent. May she rest in peace.
