Barbara Rizzo, 88, passed away at home on Sunday, November 27, 2022.
She is survived by Patrick, her loving husband of 67 years; her son, Gary Rizzo and his wife Patricia of Finleyville; daughter, Deborah and her husband Paul Anderson of Greensburg; and three grandchildren – Patrick and David Anderson of Oklahoma City, OK and Denver, CO and Michael Rizzo of Finleyville.
Born on April 10, 1934 in Dunkirk, NY, Barbara completed nurses training at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo NY. She worked as an OR nurse and, following their wedding in 1955, she and Patrick moved to Erie, PA to start their family. They relocated to Bethel Park in 1969. Barbara was actively involved with her children and loved making handicrafts of all kinds. She was an avid cross-stitcher, creating a lasting family legacy of gorgeous pictures. After moving to Canonsburg, she volunteered at Canonsburg Hospital at the front desk, greeting patients and visitors. She dearly loved line dancing at the Bethel Park Senior Center, where she had many loving friends. Barbara and Patrick extensively traveled the US together, from New England to Alaska and Hawaii and many points in between. She also loved to read, and in her later years thoroughly enjoyed audiobooks. We will miss her thoughtfulness, amazing memory and her loving smile.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120.
