Barbara Jean Ventresca

April 3, 1941 - August 4, 2025 Barbara Jean Bartkus Ventresca, 84, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 4, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Born in Cecil, Pennsylvania, on April 3, 1941, Barbara was the daughter of the late John and Bertha Bartkus. She dedicated her professional life to education as a physical education teacher, where she encouraged generations of students to move, play, and find strength in themselves - values she also carried in her personal life. Barbara was known for her fiery spirit, strong will, and generous heart. She was bold, direct, and full of life. She loved her animals deeply, especially her loyal dog Brandy and her bird Tweety, both of whom brought her comfort and joy over the years. She was lovingly known as Barb, Barbara Jean, Mom, Grandma, Ms V, Coach V just V and Momma V. She is survived by her daughter, Mica Minor; her granddaughters, Kylie Carter (Jerry) and Maci Minor (Armia Yacoub); and many cherished friends and extended family. Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Mihalek, in 2019. Her life was marked by resilience, independence, and love for her family - especially her granddaughters, of whom she was endlessly proud. A private memorial will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association in Barbara's Memory.
