Dominick A. DeFilippis Jr.

Dominick A. "Junior" DeFilippis Jr., 99, of Hickory, died on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, in The Greenery, Canonsburg. Mr. DeFilippis was born on September 11, 1925, in Avella, son of the late Domenico and Rosa Pascuzzi DeFilippis. He was a 1943 graduate of Avella High School and attended the Pittsburgh Barber School. Mr. DeFilippis was the owner and operator of a barber shop in Avella for 70 years, retiring in 2009. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Washington and a former member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church of Avella and St. Hilary Church of Washington. Mr. DeFilippis was an avid sportsman and was passionate about hunting. He was a founding member of the Avella Sportsmen Club in 1945. On January 25, 1947, he married Mary Margaret Auvil, who passed away on June 23, 2016. Surviving Mr. DeFilippis are a son, Dominick DeFilippis of Washington; a daughter Rosalee Hrubic of Riverside, Calif.; four grandchildren: Michelanne, Anthony, Danika and Timothy; five great-grandchildren: Bryce, Giada, Marco, Gianni and Luca; as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, are a daughter, Karen L. DeFilippis; a son, Frank D. DeFilippis; brothers, Patsy and Frank DeFilippis; and two sisters, Bessie DeFilippis and Josephine Bodonski. All funeral arrangements are private and being handled by Jerome A.
