Donald C. Brookman

Donald C. "Buck" Brookman, 86, of Washington, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, in Concordia Hospice in Washington. He was born November 5, 1937, in Washington, a son of the late Earl and Katherine McAnany Brookman. Mr. Brookman enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and golfing. He was on the first World Series Pony League baseball team. He was a member of St. Hilary Church in Washington. For more than 70 years he was the owner and operator of Brookman Iron and Metals and continued working until 83 years of age. Buck claimed his son fired him at age 83. On August 24, 1957, he married Geraldine Vito, who preceded him in death September 25, 2005. Surviving are two sons, Donald C. (Kathie) Brookman, Jr., and Bryan (Erin D-Agaro) Brookman, also of Washington; and a daughter, Lisa (Jeff) McCracken of Washington; and eight grandchildren, Colby, Cloe Eneix and Cimm (Bill) McArthur, and Grant, Kyle, Ella, Aidan and Evan Brookman. Also surviving is his long-time companion, Louise Mosier; two great-grandchildren, Alec and Sevren; a brother, Wayne (Judy) Brookman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Brookman; and a sister, Betty Brickner. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m., the time of a blessing service, Wednesday, April 3, in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington. Entombment will be held at a later date at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
